An anonymous user has given me a helpful tip as to the actual cause of this DDoS.

You got it totally wrong. Eide is not attacking your site, (but I would not put it past him)

The true story is: Eide attacked a software developer (bells should go off in your head on that one) That guy was also a ham radio operator. Other hams seen what Eide did and released a virus. The virus(bot) looks for BR’s name and attacks the site.

Two ways to get rid of it.
1. Add the page to robots.txt to stop search engines from finding.
2. Remove BR’s name.

That’s it.

In this case, shii.org will come back online as soon as the DDoS dies down.

DDoS continues

In response to the post below, a large-scale DDoS attack has been launched on shii.org, overwhelming Dreamhost's servers. I have redirected shii.org to this page-- hopefully by this evening the attack will die down. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Again, all I have done is quote a Rolling Stone article, which itself was quoting a post made by Phillip John Eide ("Xavier Von Erck").

Three Hour Breakfast has been taken down for now. It is being attacked by a botnet ~~apparently owned by Perverted-Justice.com~~.

The specific post being attacked was my quote of a Rolling Stone article which it seems P-J didn't like. I was unaware at the time that they didn't like this article; my blog simply reposts a lot of articles which I read on Reddit, and this was one of about a thousand links. Here is the full quote, with context (the part I had quoted is in bold):

It's easy to see how Perverted Justice resembles a game to [Xavier] Von Erck. Intentionally enigmatic himself, he demands utter transparency from predators and Perverted Justice members, like a junior-high-school kid playing D&D who always wants to be the dungeon master so he can control every aspect of the game. He guards his power closely, requiring members to give him their entire Internet history (all screen names, all pages joined) and going to war with "stupid" people who dare to criticize Perverted Justice. He exacted a particularly sadistic form of revenge against Br*ce Ra*sley, a software developer from Arkansas who launched an aggressive anti-PJ crusade. Posing as a woman named Holly, Von Erck began an online flirtation with Raisley, who was smitten enough to leave his wife and rent a new apartment. On the day Raisley went to pick up Holly at the airport, Von Erck sent a friend to snap his photo and posted it with a warning: "Tonight, Br*ce Ra*sley stood around at an airport, flowers in hand, waiting for a woman that turned out to be a man. . . . He has no one. He has no more secrets. . . . Perverted-Justice.com will only tolerate so much in the way of threats and attacks upon us."

Apparently they were unable to take down the Rolling Stone website, but my little blog is hosted for free by Tumblr (who have been great about this whole thing!), so they have successfully forced me... to redirect my blog to a page with just this quote! If you want people to know what they are trying to suppress, spread this page around. :)
